The purpose of this video is for entertainment only...
The images used within my video are taken from photos & scans of my personal original vinyl LP jacket/cover/labels, UK pressing of Beckett's "Beckett" LP on Raft Records RA 48502 (1974).

Bio courtesy Alex Gitlin;

A progressive rock outfit from Newcastle, who formed in 1970. Ken Mountain was ex-Yellow. After their Little Girl flexi, Gibbons left to join Halfbreed and was replaced by Ian Murray (ex-Music, Goblin).

After their album, which was produced by Roger Chapman of Family, Barton and Fisher left, being replaced by Arthur Ramm (ex-Les Humphries Singers) and Barry Black (ex-John Miles Set). Then Ian Murray departed, to be replaced by Jimmy Wiley (ex-Icarus). Tim Hinkley (keyboards) guested on the "Beckett" LP.

After the band split, Wilson-Slesser went on to Back Street Crawler, Wiley and Barton ended up in Captain Whizzo (1976) and Black rejoined John Miles.

Beckett was...

Terry Wilson-Slesser - Vocals
Frankie Gibbon - Bass
Kenny Mountain - Guitar
Robert Barton - Guitars
Keith Fisher - Drums
Tim Hinkley - Keyboards (guest)

  • @MrTerryslesser

Thanks Terry...so glad you enjoyed :)

Yeah...synching was a bitch. Was happy once it was done though!

I've always enjoyed this LP...too bad you guys didn't release more as a band. Always wanted to hear your solo LP "The Bridge" also, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Any idea where I can find it? I live in Canada if that helps.

    Cheers!

Not sure. I picked up my copy (featured here in the video) during the mid-late 70's sometime. I used to have some dealings on eBay a few years back, and saw a couple nice copies up for auction. Best try there, or some of the other online vinyl dealers. Craig Moerer in Oregon has a very cool online store...reputable guy to. Pretty sure his store is called "Records By Mail". A quick Google search should turn up link.

    Cheers!

Let's go with 30 on 30. Sounds about right, and looks damned nice when typed too :)

As for me? You nailed it...Guitarist/keyboards/bass/vocals. I had a hard enough time singing while playing the bass, let alone hands/feet co-ordination. I used to play and sing a fair bit back in the day. Did the 'frontman/vocalist' thing for several years though...toured the 'B circuit' bars/clubs of Southern Ontario Canada, and some of the finer establishments of NY, PA, and Michigan states.

    Hi Keith...glad you enjoyed!

Oh...and the real reason it syncs is because I spent 30 freakin' minutes with Windows Movie Maker trying to synchronize that 30 second clip, Lol. Yeah...those drums are fantastic...nice mime job :)...are you still playing?

  • @donottawaguitar

    Glad you enjoyed:)

  • Glad you enjoyed my friend :) Thanks again for your kind words!

Not a lot of music released on the "Raft" label. Though I do know that Family's final studio LP "It's Only A Movie" was also issued on Raft Records. Actually...Roger Chapman (Family's vocalist/frontman) produced this one and only album by "Beckett". Their vocalist Terry Wilson Slesser went on to front Paul Kossoff's "Back Street Crawler". Iron Maiden also covered Beckett's "Rainbows Gold" during the mid 80's.

    Cheers!
