This episode covers how we wrapped raw carbon fibers immersed with epoxy around carbon tubes and then vacuum bagging them. One of our junctions used 10 feet of 50k carbon tow (roving) and the other used 20 feet of the same material. this time we used a slightly more viscous epoxy (hysol EA-9430) Not shown is the light trimming needed around the joints. Best results yet.

  • Just incase l missed it; What super streachy film do you use as the Bread in your carbon tube sandwich?

    Thanks for the info.

  • wow you guys use way to much plastic and peel ply... next time either make a long cilindrcal bag and stck each end over the frame then put your inner tube over that then use like 18"x18" of bag on both sides in the sandwich but seal to the cylindrical bag that's over the frame. make this bag by rolling a piece of plastic back on itself...or if your inner tube will reach use it.... U should be able to bag about ten with the plastic used for this one :-)

  • Cool ...Emerson, Lake and Palmer

  • What vacuum bagging pump system do you use?

  • the strand should have went on,and into the uprights and linear sections
