  • someone should teach me how to do this - i have c++ and python along with a few others but for a start how do i use QT or VTX in C++

  • @SchindlerShadow And as I said it doesn't matter if the software is open, or closed... because most Linux users don't know how to code... So you are still at the mercy of the small handful of people that write the code for open, or closed ... Blender3D, Gimp, Linux Ubuntu, Linux Mint... all of them make changes to the software with out asking me.... WHY ? because most people aren't programmers there for have no say in how the programs are made...

  • @maw88ify except it all proprietary...... while qt is open =D

  • @cyborgtroy You compared it to Flash.

  • @p011uX0 - I never said it wasn't.

  • @cyborgtroy You sir, are dumb. Qt is for desktop app development..

  • @maw88ify - The 10% of users who would contribute to an open Flash is a lot more programming force than whoever Adobe has assigned to their closed Flash player.

Even if they opened the protocols more and allowed WebKit or Gecko to run SWFs directly, without a plugin, that would be great. But they're all "no, let our plugin take care of it."

  • @cyborgtroy So who cares if it's all open... Adobe make the best software

Most Linux users don't know how to program, and wouldn't know what to do with the source code if you gave it to them...

So the truth is 90% of all the Linux users are at the mercy of the 10% of Linux users that know how to program... I never edit any of the source codes in Linux. O.K. I take that back I may have used the Hex Editor once to edit CompizConfig Settings Manager .

  • @maw88ify - It doesn't matter if the scripts are open, the interpreter is still closed, so I'm still at Adobe's mercy for running any of those applications.

I use Qt Creator for most of my Linux programming. It has a UI designer and build system built-in, it's a lot like Visual Studio. It's available from the package repos in Ubuntu and Arch, so it's actually easier to install than any programming tool in Windows. I also have sshfs for programming on remote machines, which is amazing.
