Christopher HItchens in a debate at Hart House at the University of Toronto, November 15th, 2006. The motion being considered, with Hitchens arguing in the affirmative, was: "Be It Resolved: Freedom of Speech Includes the Freedom to Hate." He covers the gamut from Holocaust Denial to Religion in this speech, which I consider his most brilliant piece of rhetoric to date.

Absolutely Brilliant. This speech sums up Hitchens. He opposes religion, authority, totalitarianism, faith and arrogance and supports doubt, skepticism, freedom, debate and expression. Amazing.

Mr Hichens is correct in this respect. A conspiracy theory is 99% crap 1% Bullshit. Ignore the 1% at your peril. I miss him, seriously ...

Hitch is spot on with the freedom of expression and not suppressing it...but reserving the right the stop religion in its tracks...I mean that's just stirring up the hornet's nest. He's almost inciting hatred (which when bred with large numbers of people can beget violence). Surely we can peacefully dissuade those fanatics to behave and get along can't we?? ;) ;) ;)
