Less than one month after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Mayor Giuliani addresses over 1000 LGBT people at the Pride Agenda's 2001 Fall Dinner in midtown Manhattan. He pays tribute to openly gay Mark Bingham who played a lead role in preventing terrorists in the plane that went down in Pennsylvania from reaching their target in Washington, DC and praises the Pride Agenda for "moving our society to a greater level of understanding of what our liberty is all about."

Before Giuliani begins his remarks, the possibility of his appearing in drag on the cable television show "Queer as Folk" is mentioned by his introducer, Pride Agenda Co-Chair Jeff Soref. This appearance marks the second time Giuliani has given a major address at the Pride Agenda Fall Dinner in NYC.

  • It's such a shame that nowadays when I hear the word "Christian," my first thought is "bigot."

  • As a liberal Democrat, I just want to thank Mooninite for dragging the Republican Party into the gutter.

  • There certainly were hijackers on 911. And those hijackers destroyed the world trade center and blew a wall in the pentagon.

They are still trying to hijack the rest of the country.

  • JimJamoo6 - Um, how about "Jeez, look who's talking"?

Check out Giuliani in drag here:

  • I don't agree much with Major Giuliani's positions, but his decency really comes out in this video. What other candidates (Democratic or Republican) have treated gay and lesbians persons with such respect? A month after September 11th, he gives this speech to a pride organization and chooses to validate their assistance in helping the families of the survivors.

I can't imagine ever voting for Giuliani, but I certainly have greater respect for him and his care for all citizens.

  • yeah i fucking hate gays and niggers die all!!!!!! 100% with u

  • see how real elections work. All top runners are set ups for the masses.

  • What was it that Jesus said in his Sermon on the Mount? Oh yeah - "Judge not that ye be not judged." Seems like so many "Christians" would prefer to ignore that one.

Personally, I love the line from "Hannah and Her Sisters," when Max Von Snydow says, "If Jesus came back and saw what's going on in his name, he'd never stop throwing up."

  • As a conservative Republican active in local and state GOP boards, I cannot in good conscience support a known supporter of our country's children. Giuliani has lost my vote. I will support Huckabee and urge my fellow Christians to not support our nations children as well

  • Huh. I'm an agnostic homosexual and I support Huckabee, largely because one of my best friends (a homosexual!) has worked for him and knows he isn't a homophobic creep
