Percy Faith's "Theme From a Summer Place" went to #1 in January of 1960 and won a Grammy for Record of the Year. The Canadian-born arranger/conductor worked for years at Columbia Records involving himself with many of the great recordings of the 1950's and 1960's with the likes of Tony Bennett, Doris Day, Guy Mitchell, and others.

  • Whenever asked what my favorite song is, I either say Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade" or Percy Faith's "Theme From a Summer Place."

It's been those two songs since I was a teen back in he mid seventies.

  • We have very similar tastes...I haven't posted "Moonlight Serenade" yet simply because I have so many versions of it, I can't figure out which one to use.
