  • @l23722 Migrants bring their culture when them, locals embrace it. Things merge. I don't see anything ridiculous about it. That's how the world works.

Anyway, Notting Hill Carnival is primarily a Caribbean carnival, not Brazilian. It's organised by the local community that consists mostly of people originating from Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados etc. You mostly hear reggae, dubstep, jungle, soca etc. This festival has been going on since the 60's and is the 2nd biggest street festival in Europe.

  • Fantastic! Carnival is a vibrant, raw celebration of life and art, music, theatre, storytelling and dance. Samba carnival is like a mobile opera, with it's script (enredo), orchestra (bateria), prima-donnas (destaques, rainhas and musas), cast (the alas), stage directors (harmonia) and director (carnavalesco), costumes (fantasias), props (adereços) and of course, set (carros alegoricos)! It's a glorious thing to see it celebrated all around the world with passion and love for Brazil.

  • @fabaum22 You are worse than me. Gosh! Brazilian Carnival in Brazil makes sense (I just don´t like carnival in general).

  • @l23722 Brazilian Carnival is a shame in Brazil. Anywhere else is just worse. Just worse.

  • Brazilian Carnival in Portugal is such a shame, but in Uk? That's just ridiculous...

  • @SandrineSoprano - Why thank you!! Come and join us!! Fred (Mestre de Bateria) :0)

  • Impressive.
