I designed an air raid siren to bring to hockey games to make some noise. We finished it and decided to make a quick movie. Hope you enjoy!

  • Hey guys,

first off, yes it was all done from a billet i found 'laying around' haha. second the rotor could probably be run over by my truck and not be damaged, its quite beefy. and finally, i maybe able to one up that cordless drill and grab a starter motor from Indy team along with a motorcycle battery.

I am looking into rebuilding it since its not as loud as i hoped. Thanks for your comments!

  • Its fantastic to see the Claskon Shop again. I spent many hours in front of that Fryer and Bridgeport milling center.

    Great Air Raid Siren too!

  • Nice job!

    Let's see closeups.

    Becareful.

I'd be worried about centrifugal force causing rotor expansion and it throwing shrapnel.

    Nice.

    Congratulations.

  • If you had made that siren about 18" in diameter, you could evacuate everyone within a half mile or so.

  • Any good idea is better when you chuck it into a vertical mill ...

  • can you tell me how you made it?

  • It sounds like a ACA Screamer Siren on that machine.

  • Haha, you can tell these guys are students-NO-ONE else would think to put it in a lathe! Sweet sounding siren tho guys :o)

  • That's pretty damn cool!

  • Any chance you might consider sharing your drawings?

  • Now THATS cool, loved how you used the vertical mill to run it! Thatll be excellent to use at a hockey game! Did you sand cast the rotor and stator, or did you just take a billet and machine it?
