There's some very serious health and safety issues here. Questions need to be asked who was in charge and who allowed those men to work in those conditions.

So what happened that was so disatrous?

Oh and BTW, the reason you back up into the weather is so that in the event of an engine failure or black out you drift to safety and not into the wire and foul the props and rudders.

This looks like a Swires R boat, and it is definately not 35 years old which you can tell by the crash barriers. I was on Pacific Ranger for six months, great wee boats. As for Noggys being best at A/H, hahahahaha. The only disaster I see here is the absolute piss poor lasoing by the lads on deck. I was in India on the Ranger and during the monsoons we had some proper bad weather, still had to work cargo and they even made us hook up for an emergency tow on the Drill Ship.

@bugsier5 If this is a normal day at work in the North sea,i sure wouldnt be working on deck on your AHTS then!!!!!!!!

@Maloy7800 You're wasting keystrokes with the childish insults and name calling. You can say what you like, use all the foul language and cutesie tags like "sweetheart" you can think of, but the fact remains: Folks who've actually worked at sea might agree or disagree with my opinion, but all of them will tell you that without firsthand experience in that environment, your opinion on such matters is utterly invalid. Put simply, you literally do not know what you are talking about.

@MrSaunter Yes, i agree. But 99,9999999 can and could have been prevented. :)

@vegard641 Hardly anything is a 100% safe. Accident do happen =)
Is it standard procedure to have weather and wind in from the stern also LOL.
I've been anchor-handling as well, but if something like this would have happend, we'd used a rainforest after in paper-work.
May I ask where in the north sea this is normal/acceptable?
My company policy is if it's not 100% safe it can't be done.

okokok , agreed , the best mates are standing ashore is a saying here , but i think that master should have swing the boat with the waves from the stem insted of the stern . Thats my opinion .
