At the beginning the girl waving goodbye is Imogen Hassall, she was one of those actresses who could act but never really got a chance because of her looks. After "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" her curves were in demand, she was in so many British TV series and films. Sadly looks aren't everything and in 1980 she died of an overdose, she was said to lonely. Still I bet she had crammed a lot of living into her 38 years.
