another vid about the paradiddle, this time using the inverted paradiddle as ghost notes in a half time groove. I've seen lots of drummers use this sticking, such as Gadd, Spanky, Colaiuto, Chris Dave to name but a few. The left hand is pretty busy playing the ghost notes on the snare in this groove, with the kick creating a syncopated back beat. I've slowed it down in places to make it easier to catch the sticking. If you think in terms of 32nd notes with this groove, and miss the first hi hat beat ( just kick), then it becomes completely linear, u can replace with kick where ever u like to create a new linear feel .

  • I just started studying drums couple of weeks ago. After some 25 years from the last. I'm happy I started this hobby again and I'm specially interested on grooves like this. Good recording and very nicely played. You are my hero Dean!

  • @jlahteen good luck with it, thanks for the nice comment : )

  • what's the complete sticking pattern including the kicks? because something here doesn't quite add up.

    thanks!

  • it is the 2nd half that is more inverted, apart from the last kick that replaces the right.

  • nice!

  • awesome man :)

  • Great feel!

  • well, you would be quite justified a nice hourly rate for local drum lessons. It helps for people to have one-on-one. But yeah, not many people in my househould want to chat drums and recording...so youtube is great for that!
