@Tmjr6 Just a simple question of timing: the song was written (and became popular) just a few years before the start of the Civil War; each region of various people took it in one context as opposed to another (in fact, a few decades later, it briefly became popular again in New York, of all places, with some lyrical versions tweaked to reflect that area). Kind of like how a decade ago Enya's "Only Time" = WTC bombing, due to it's release time. Nothing to do with the event as such, just timing.
