I have to wondder though just how far in front of them jockys actually do look...in this case it cant be more than 50 yards...all they had to do wqas open the salls doors on both sides and they could have run through them...problem solved..

Um, seriously? That'd be a disaster waiting to happen... they'd have to *perfectly* get to the gate, which is only wide enough for them to STAND in... a few millimeters off and there's a huge disaster

Look up the GRAND NATIONAL that never was. Uk National some years ago had 2 false starts and on the third time of asking that to was a false start...most of the horses though carried on and completed the whole national course only to be told that it was a no race...Now thats cruel.
