I heard this on satellite radio recently and it kind of shocked me but, as someone that has been in an abusive relationship, I understand it. The fact that someone cares enough to get so upset can be reassuring. I definitely don't condone violence, though.

Carole King wrote it after Eva Boyd (singer of the song Loco-motion) revealed that her boyfriend regularly beat her. When asked why she put up with it, she said it showed that he loved her.

Just seen that on Adam Curtis doc 'It Felt Like a Kiss'

They're saying because the guy hit them that shows that he has feelings for them, its not endorsing anything, the song's showing that they are so blinded by love that they think because someone is angry that it shows they care.

@dolly32112

Actually, its about a friend (a fellow singer, if you will) of theirs whose boyfriend abused them.

yeah but even though it is abuse to everyone else, the girl, in the song, is so in love she sees it as a kiss.
