I heard this on satellite radio recently and it kind of shocked me but, as someone that has been in an abusive relationship, I understand it. The fact that someone cares enough to get so upset can be reassuring. I definitely don't condone violence, though.

They're saying because the guy hit them that shows that he has feelings for them, its not endorsing anything, the song's showing that they are so blinded by love that they think because someone is angry that it shows they care.

Actually, its about a friend (a fellow singer, if you will) of theirs whose boyfriend abused them.

yeah but even though it is abuse to everyone else, the girl, in the song, is so in love she sees it as a kiss.
