  • @jack87363 That the idea, I found this strange myself at first being used to playing rock etc.The bass drum is supposed to just slightly fill out the bottom end and you don't really notice it till you take it out.Playing the bass at the volume demonstrated here is very hard at first but well worth persevering with.Cheers Adam

  • It's triplet based because you can't think in terms of swung eighth notes when you play the only the middle triplet, or quarter note triplet values, or anything else other than the first and last triplet.. I think learning it in a triplet form is the easiest way to learn the basic subdivisions, however a lot of drummers play the skip beat more like a 16th note value for stylistic purposes.

  • i always counted jazz as swung 8th notes... not triplets
