A fan video for actor Gerard Butler, using clips from the USA channel miniseries "Attila." (Also stars Powers Boothe.)

This isn't that super great of a video—just a bunch of clips strung together—but I was just having fun playing around with iMovie '08.

A lot of Mac fans are upset with Apple's new "upgrade" to iMovie '08, and I am no exception—iMovie 6 had some many more features and control over editing. But, iMovie '08 is pretty darn fun to use! I'm just glad that Apple is still making iMovie 6 available for iMovie '08 customers. If you're new to Macs, don't think that iMovie '08 is all there is to it—iMovie 6 has a LOT too offer and you might want to "graduate" to it eventually.

Music composed with Garageband's "Magic Garageband" feature. I didn't really "compose" this music myself, but more like choose a few customized settings, added some tracks, used some loops, and this is the end result. I absolutely love Garageband and this new upgrade is several different kinds of awesome!

For making quickie videos and something simple, iMovie 08 is rather fun. It's definitely a unique approach to video editing!

  • You use imovie too? Where do you get your clips? I usually got them from Stage6 and it actually sucks 'cause there's hardly anything useful there and it's closed down.

  • I use iMovie and Final Cut. I rip my own clips from my DVDs, using MPEG Streamclip. I have Mac vidding tutorials at foolishpassion dot org.

Rip your own clips! The quality is SO much better! :D

  • Thanks! I'll try that if I can.

  • It's very easy and they videos will look gorgeous! :D Mac users are lucky to have iMovie and Final Cut Express. They're both such good programs and give so much more (for the money) compared to Windows video editors.

  • Well, I've just got MPEG now, so how do I import a movie?

  • Follow the instructions on foolishpassion dot org. You will need to buy MPEG-2 Playback $20 plug-in from Apple to get this to work, as well as use a DVD ripper called Mac the Ripper. (Links are on the site.) Or, if you don't want to buy the $20 plug-in (which I really recommend; it's much quicker), you can use handbrake (handbrake dot fr). I have a tutorial for using Handbrake on LiveJournal, my LJ username is sweeney32.

  • @SeyhSamil57400 úhuns werent turks, turks mostly huns. we hungarians are huns too, bulgars too, and we arent turks!

  • RACIST HOLLYWOOD = FAIL

  • The origin of Attila's name is not known with confidence. Most suggestions assume Turkish roots. In Hungary and in Turkey "Attila" is commonly used as a male first name. In Turkey sometimes the name is spelled with double ll rather than double tt (Atilla).

  • It seems to me that the Turks were a mixture of Sassinids/Steppe peoples, etc. Therefore, there was probably a connection between the Turks and the Huns. However, to make the claim that they were the same exact people as the medeival Turks seems to be overreaching a bit.

  • Attila is a Turk no Hungarian. Open pound of history them a bit!!!!!!!

  • huns are chinese ... read your history bros

  • Atilla was a Hun...not Hungarian...

    Hungarian=Slav+A bit hun+other nations....

  • Okay where do you get imovie '06? I would really like to get it. PLEASE ANSWER!!!

  • The other wife's name, Ildiko is also a modern version, her "oldfashioned" name was: Krimhilda.

Sorry for my disturbing, but I thought somebody would take delight in some curiosity. :D Bye!

PS: In my opinion Gerry Butler was a very good Attila! ;-)
