Just a bit of waterborne scrubbing before a water change. Potassium permanganate (PP) is a strong oxidant that does not generate toxic byproducts. It breaks down extra organic wastes so I can siphon them off and then replace the water. It starts purple, turns amber, then yellow, then colorless - and it's time to change the water.

if the concentration is not too high, it does very little to the fish except thin the slime coat and reduce parasites.

  • what does it do to the fish?
