  • So if a guy was thinking about ordering from Carvin a DC127T with alder body, maple neck, and flame maple top, what pickups might you recommend to give him the sort of tonal variation you get with the DC127T in this video?

  • @1Jn227

Seymour Duncan P-Rails. That would give you Humbucking, P90s, and strat style single coils, and you could combine them for a bunch of different tones.

  • Please continue your series, it's awesome!

Thanks Steve. We should more videos uploaded within two weeks.

  • You don't like Carvin pups?

  • @zonie9872

I have 7 Carvin guitars, and I've changed the pickups out on 2 of them. It all depends on how they sound with the wood in that particular guitar.

You can use regular flat pickup rings. A little larger won't be an issue. The pickup cavity should be large enough without any modification. The two coil tap switches will need to be changed to three position switches in order to independently allow each pickup its three sound. Humbucker, single coil, and P90

  • Very nice demo Jon. The pickups do add a nice touch!

  • @brianway1 Thanks a million!

  • Dear Jon, love the review!

I recently ordered a Carvin DC127T, and would like to change the PUs to P-Rails, just like yours, but I ran into some difficulties, hoping that you can give me some answers.

My Carvin PUs uses 3 height adjustment screws instead of 2, so I have to change the PU rings, but the rings seems to be just a little smaller then other regular PU rings.

How did you solve this issue? Did you fill the holes and re-drill?

2nd, Are the PU cavities big enough for P-Rails?

    Thank you!
