First let me say I had to edit this to make it under 10 minutes so the voice doesn't match up with the clips.
After losing one of the greatest passing attacks I've ever seen at the High School Level (DJ Cleary and Harry Nakielny if anyone has that highlight tape please email info@townbeef.com) Not much was expected from the 93 team.
This was my freshmen year, I didn't play but got a hold of the tape.
Almost 20 years later Sayreville is now a WingT and Misdirection type team. Back in the early 90s they were power I and had one of the biggest squads I've seen at that school. They averaged 265lbs on the Oline and thats written in the Ledger.
Some guys that really stood out were Running backs Mike Clark who only played his senior year, Chris Solo who was actually the back up QB and replaced Dennis Coyle, Joey Caverlaro, Michael Foye, Bilal Muhammad, formerly known as "Bilal King #14 and Jamal Bowman.
Bowman had running back ability but was so strong they had as a D Tackle.
They lost in the opening round playoff game to woodbridge who the dominated in the regular season. The game went into OT and Sayrevile Scored First. Woodbridge scored next but the snap was muffed on the extra point and the Center was wearing an eldgible number. The refs didn't catch that the center caught the ball and gave wood bridge the win. Imagine? This was one of the best Defenses sayreville ever had getting 4 shutouts including one against Piscataway.
The 93 team was a great squad!
