Here is a 396 lb sumo stance good morning from a recent workout. Not a PR, but it felt pretty heavy that day. We just got a new GHR from Elitefts.com, so we have been cycling these in as well during our lower body training sessions.

  • Good stuff, man. I just started cycling these into my own training as well and noticed a drastic drop in weight with the wider stance.

I can't tell, is that you spotting or lifting Jim?

  • That is me lifting.

For me, I feel a greater distribution out wide and more stable.

I just checked out your youtube channel - great job on your recent PL meet - big numbers bro!

  • I should do more Good mornings, I think I neglect them in favour of AGT squats but I should really be doing both.

  • It's a fine exercise.

  • If you warm up properly and use the weight you're truly on, there is no danger.

  • No exercise is dangerous when proper form and weight are used.

  • Start with no weight on the bar and work up slowly.

  • yeah i'm scared of trying these....i'm only 165 lbs. so not much bigger than bruce lee....

  • Do any major exercise heavy improperly, without a warm up and your screwed. That's not saying that good mornings are a bad exercise, that's just saying he was foolish to not have properly warmed up, asshat. GM's are about the only reason I can stand right now, after having completely obliterated my lower back pitching and various other sports. The strength its given me in my low back (went from 165lbs GM to 515lbs to give you an indication) has almost completely eliminated the pain.

  • Hi

Very impressed with the weight used for the GM and also for your approach to exercise in general.

Do you think that good mornings is amust exercise for lower back or they are more dangerous than are worth?

Cna dangers be avoided with proper technique?

  • Wow that was a deep good morning GJ
