I am so sorry for your loss. I could not even imagine our life without Aniza in it. But her name fit her well as she was a precious gift to your family while she was here. Thank you for posting to this video. I've never heard of Soto Syndrome but now I am very curious to study it a little.

I also wanted to give you a little update. Aniza is now almost 6 and doing extremely well. She has been streamlined into main general education kindergarten and her teacher says she fits right in and is keeping up with everyone else. Yay! I am very happy to report this. Now everyone can see that the abilities of children with MDS can be much greater than their disabilities. So far Aniza's health has been great. Maybe I'll post a new video sometime this week.

Wow, I am impressed to see that this interview made youtube. I had no idea. Thank you so much to all of you who commented on this video. I believe there was a question or two included in some of the comments so years later, I will try to answer them :) To my knowledge mosaisism is somewhat less aggressive in some cases but not all. Speech seems to be the most affected area in most children living with MDS.

Our daughter was born with Down Syndrome. When she was born, we were told, after testing, that she did not have mosaic DS, and that they were disappointed that she wasn't as they told us that Mosaic Down Syndome children generally fare better, as most of the time they do not exhibit the full array of symtoms/characteristics of DS, including the markedly lower IQ as well as global developmental delay. At the time she was born we met a young couple whose daughter was Mosaic and she was doing well!

My daughter was born w/ mosaic Down syndrome. Her name was Takara (whicch means treasure , precious gift in Japanese. Hope was her middle name. She had an operation@ (aortaplexy) and never woke up. She was a happy baby and pretty. She passed Dec. 25th @ Children's Hospital Boston 2006. I think of her everyday. Her bro has Sotos syndrome & mild Autism. I wish you much success.

She's so cute! I was aware of Down Syndrome and genetic mosaicism as separate conditions, but it never dawned on me that both could occur in the same individual. Thank you for posting this video and helping educate the rest of us.
