considering his 100million+ in assets was entirely self made, i don't see how he was born and bred to do so.

if someone, elite or not, is able to accrue that much personal wealth in their lifetime and then manage it efficiently, i think that gives him some credit for a bid for 'power'.

Actually even if he were in the Labor party he would be considered to the left, in my opinion.

The Liberals need him at the moment, I believe the level of wealth that he has achieved, and the causes he has stood for in the past, indicate he is in politics for good reasons.

I think it would be very good for the country if he were to lead the coalition, as it would force them to finally ring in the 21st century .

This guy worked as a political journalist while studying at Sydney U. and Oxford, became a barrister defending both Kerry Packer and the memoirs of a British spy against the govt, established an investment banking firm, became a partner at Goldman Sachs, chaired OZEmail, led the Republican Movement...and you don't want him in politics?
