  • Was there a test pattern after the anthems?

  • Yes, there was a test pattern afterwards (the standard colour bar).

  • Dan Hartman's "Vertigo"/"relight my fire"

  • @matthewcrites

Yup, and it was also used by the CBC in 2000. Search for "CBC Closing/Opening 2000" and they use this kind of O'Canada. They have an animation that the bird flies everywhere in Canada. Sounds good.!

  • The music in the CJOH ID is "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" by Dan Hartman. Just in case anyone was wondering.

  • I had fun playing back these sign off's...Brings back great memories.

  • I don't know if you heard, but the newsroom and a bunch of footage was lost in a fire. I think we should try to gather up footage for them to see if we can help them. I'm from Watertown, NY, but I loved watching it and still do.

  • I Love CTV Ottawa and 'A' Ottawa

  • CJOH produced YCDTOTV during the entire series run. From "Whatever Turns You On" in 1979 until the series ended in 1990 the show was credited to "Carleton Productions" although there was really no such company. From 1982 onward, Nickelodeon was a partner in the series' production given its massive success in the States on Nick. To my knowledge CTV itself had no hand in the production after "Whatever Turns You On" (the CTV network version of the show) bombed in 1979.

  • One word... "infomercials." Stations figured out they could make boatloads of money with paid programming. It's all about the bottom line, and infomercials make the station money even if no one is watching.

  • As one of your "southern" neighbours, I love your anthem, too.

This is my favourite version as well. I was introduced to it in the animated CBC signoff.

Cheers from the Philadelphia area - I'm looking forward to seeing my friend from Nepean on June 5, 2009 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania!
