  • I raised my son on John Hartford. He's 32 now and owns the entire John Hartford collection. Only saw him once at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado. It was sold out. the place held 9,450. He started a blues tune on the fiddle... stepped off the stage and walked all the way to the top, never missing a note. He stood on the wall in the back with the Sun setting behind him. What a great image with the derby hat.

He was a true giant of the music industry. I was so sad when he passed.

  • As a kid i remember a song that John Hartford sang, called Baking Soda from the album Earth Words. I can't find it any where on you tube, just wondering if anyone knows if its out there.

  • Didn't know this guy existed until after he already died. I've heard that's the case with most artists.

  • I used to watch John on TV when he was on the Campbell show and I think I even caught him on the Cash show... then I went to college in '73 and heard the Aeroplane album, listened to that for years... plus some of his other things he was putting out on Flying Fish. Then I saw him live at Warrenton Virginia as part of the Bluemont concert series, I think it was early to mid 90's. He played over by the courthouse, the stage was a flatbed truck trailer; What a treat that was!

  • damn mark schatz has played with everyone.

  • Boy oh boy, this is so smooooth! Effortless and easy. The sort of perfection, that only years of performance and native talent can bring. Many thanks for posting. Regards from NZ.

  • this band changed my entire perception of music on an entire different level and this tune is one of the best written documentaries of music history recorded.
