Deka skin resurfacing technology uses CO2 lasers and allows the removal of both deep and shallow wrinkles, superficial pigmentation, discoloration and acne scars.

The laser zaps away layers of skin, stimulating the dermis to produce new cells and collagen, which will form completely new skin. The application of the laser to the skin is precise and selective, since the doctor works on a checkerboard pattern, targeting microscopic squares of damaged skin to reach about 30 percent of the skin's surface in one session, leaving the remaining untreated skin in order to help heal the treated areas quickly.

This system is considered safe for most skin types and may be used for the face, neck, chest, and hands. On average three to five sessions is the usual course per area. The discomfort is entirely manageable as the treated area is topically numbed and blasts of ice are used to frost skin before the laser beam touches it. The result is a significantly smoother and more even complexion.

The benefits are less redness or swelling, and a more significant improvement with the added bonus of skin tightening which makes one look younger and healthier. The skin's appearance will continue to improve for several months. Downtime is usually minimal after the treatments, and is usually limited to redness and sometimes mild swelling for a few days.

This new technology falls between the original fractionated systems that are more superficial, and the very deep lasers that require a long downtime. This innovative type of CO2 laser offers the safety of fractionated laser therapy with the long lasting results of traditional CO2 laser treatments.

The Deka laser is exclusively available at Estetika in Sliema. For more information call on 2134 0503 or visit http://www.estetika.com.mt/.
