  • I'm not sure inacceptable is a word. Unacceptable would fit. Just saying. You're doing great, I think!

  • @macooper1234 Not in Scrabble, but otherwise don't be so sure! But point taken.

  • Fortunately it is quite easy for a Portuguese speaker, 99% of the time it's the same :)

I think that just two of the sentences sounds a little bit weird in Portuguese.

    ¿Votase por Obama o Mccain?

In coloquial language we could say... "no Obama ou no McCain?"

Fui al mercano por pan y leche.

Fui ao mercado pelo pão e pelo leite <-- sounds a little bit formal :) People would say: Fui ao mercado para comprar pão e leite.

We still have a few differences betweek Spanish and Portuguese :)

  • oi marcio! you can also say Fui al mercado para comprar pan y leche in Spanish, fica perfeito assim. Seria o uso: in order to. But your example with the verb votar is a great one in terms of how prepositions will vary between languages, even two as similar as SPN and PORT, né? Thanks for watching!! abraços

  • Thanks for this prof. Jason. Was very helpful.

  • here is one way to differentiate. think of the london bridges song for para.

    Destined person, place & time

In order to, in order to become,

    on the verge of, considering,

    purpose, use PARA

    This is for POR:

Pray for, pay for, thank for, use POR, for the sake of, in exchange for, motive, cause, in place of, duration, by, per, through, for, use POR\

that is to We Three kings the song

listen to the melodies and the words and its pretty easy to remember them

  • why is number 5 por? Shouldn't it be para because they are the recipient?

  • thank you! You explained it really well :)

  • Thank you, this video was very helpful! This is something that I have had a very difficult time understanding!

  • @macooper1234 Inaceptable (only one c)= Unacceptable Es totalmente correcto. Creeme, este es mi idioma nativo, por eso te lo digo. Buen dia!

  • Para destino no solemos utilizar "para", sino "a":

Vamos a la playa después del almuerzo.

  • i've been having lots of trouble with this in spanish! but your explanation really helped! thanks professor jason :)
