Even more amazing... they taught mice how to count seconds yet I cant even teach my cat to stop meowing

Frigbee360 so exercise also speeds up you're heart rate and actually may pro-long your life... so what you actually mean is that artificially altering your heart rate (upper drugs) will result in a shorter life. Smoking weed responsibly is the best way to go :)

am i thinking right in that they are using synthetic drugs here????

@Frigbee360 While I am a big time proponent of legalised marijuana throughout the world, you make too many assumptions with this video. Your first assumption is that similar effects can and will be replicated in humans (while lab rats are useful, results on them in a lab cannot always be replicated on humans). Speeding up bodily functions is not necessarily an indicator of a shortened life, an example can be found with the chemical caffeine.

please give another rat some acid

Ok, we can discuss the afore mentioned procedure as long as we want but I would first wish to mention one thing - this is funny as shit :D The weed rat be chillin :D

@Frigbee360 crack addicts look much older? Maybe thats due to their overall lifestyle... not sure you really no what you are talking about sunshine

@Tairaa2 You cant say time is the same for everyone, bad bad assumption. Tsk tsk.
You all got it backwards. The cocaine rat perceived 8 seconds as though it were 12 seconds. This can be rephrased as the cocaine rat lived a perceived 12 seconds in the control rat's perceived 8 seconds. Time is moving 1.5 times *slower* for the cocaine rat and he is thus "living longer." This makes intuitive sense since you'd expect someone who perceived everything else as though it were moving very slowly to appear to move quickly from the perspective of the apparently slow moving others.

No the physical aspects of having things move faster make you live shorter. Dragonflies and hummingbirds are two of the fastest living organisms with the shortest lifespans. Speeding up your heartrate and brain functions including rate at which chemicals release will sheorten your life. This is why lifetime crack addicts look much older than they actually are. Don't comment on things you know nothing about. Your feable attempt to seem smart failed miserably.
