A beautiful melody complimented by beautiful paintings. Ketelbey's Sanctuary of My Heart with awesome paintings by Robert Duncan of Utah, USA.

THE COMPOSER: Albert W. Ketèlbey was born in Alma Street in the Lozells area of Birmingham, England, the son of George Ketelbey (written with no accent), and Sarah Aston. At the age of eleven he wrote a piano sonata that won praise from Edward Elgar. Ketèlbey attended the Trinity College of Music in London, where he showed his talent for playing various orchestral instruments reflected in the masterfully colourful orchestration, especially of oriental inspiration, that became his trademark. At Trinity he beat Gustav Holst in competition for a musical scholarship. He used the pseudonyms Raoul Clifford and Anton Vodorinski for some of his earlier works (some reference books mistakenly give Vodorinski as his true name and Ketèlbey as the pseudonym). His name is frequently misspelt Ketelby.

THE ARTIST: Robert Duncan was born in Utah and began painting at age eleven. He spent summers as a boy on his grandparents' ranch in Wyoming where his grandmother gave him his first set of oil paints. It was there that he grew to love the country, the open spaces, and the rural lifestyle. Robert has painted professionally for about 25 years. He studied at the University of Utah and worked as a commercial artist before his full-time dedication to the fine art of the American West. Robert was elected into the Cowboy Artists of America at a young age and won two silver medals in their annual exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum - a dream come true. Robert, his wife Linda, their six children, and a lively assortment of farm animals live in the little town of Midway in Northern Utah.

"I decided years ago to paint the things that I cared most about. That decision has brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction and I'm especially grateful th

  • @honeybabe68 You're lucky your father led you to classic music because there are many many beautiful selections that are a joy to listen to. Ketelbey is one of many who has composed beautiful music. I ask you to please explore our channels where you'll find all the beautiful classic music in the world.

Thanks for sharing your experience and warm regards from Malta.

  • Thank you for posting this. When I was a child we used to listen, on a Sunday evening, to the radio with my father. It was the only evening he spent at home with us. I'm afraid we rather dreaded the hour when "from the Palm Court of The Grand Hotel" was on, as we daren't move or speak. It's only in later life that I have appreciated classical music of all sorts. Whenever I hear the name Arthur Kaleleby, it takes me straight back to those far off evenings.

  • @freddodaw Thank you. Nice music deserved nice photos. Regards from Malta.

  • Absolutely stunning. I love the music and the paintings are wonderful. Norman Rockwell would be proud.

  • @ArtWithRob Hagan's are good but I also like detailed paintings. Thanks for your comment - replying from another channel of ours

  • amazing, too much detail for my taste. I prefer a much looser style, like robert hagan. Still very beautiful paintings though.

  • ketèlbey was inspired and moved, one silent evening when he was somewhere in GOZO,MALTA and all of a sudden he heard the bells of Ta Pinu church ring.He was so moved that he composed here, where he was stationed as a musician.A tribute to Gozitan bells. The original manuscript of Bells Across the Meadows,as written down by Ketèlbey himself of course,is still kept in the musical archives at the Aurora Opera House Gozo.
