laser "fired"? sensationalism at best.

oh and the majority of the green lasers people are getting their hands on are made in China, they are much more powerful then the ones you buy at a office supplies store
in fact many of them can burn paper.
Look them up on here, they are not innocent little toys.

Go to the store and buy a red laser and a green laser.
take someone with you in car to a large vacant lot
and have the other person shine the lasers in your face
as you drive around. she how well you do.
Now imagine that in a helicopter.

@jblackrupert They would have to be shone into your eyes for a decently long time. At that distance that would be so unlikely that its not a real threat. Im not saing the kid was fine shining the laser, or that he should not have had punishment, but that the police blew it WAY out of proportion, and the story they told was bullshit.

Laser pointers can cause permant blindness, Green lasers are even worse
if you're so smart, take a laser pointer of any colour and fire into your eye
for a few seconds then walk around.

Visible light lasers do not distrupt FLIR. FLIR only sees infrared light from heat sources. to blind FLIR you need to use infrared light beams.
FLIR stands for Forward Looking INFRARED. Lasers are visible light
so as you can see in the video when they enable FLIR the beam disapears
because the FLIR camera cannot see it.

was that a cat?

My right ear is sad

Thats what the illegals crossing the borders are using. They are called "12 packs". Basically 12 laser pointers hooked together. It disrupts the FLEER equipment and makes them impsossible to see. All it takes is a steady hand.

You guys are idiots. Have you ever had a laser placed in your eye? Now doing wearing night vision goggles. Then put a helicopter into play. I think you would change your mind. You know it's a federal offense to do this a you can face up to 20 years in prison.
@mastersusaf Yes, of course you don't need to look out for; other aircraft, pylons, trees, antenna's, terrain and buildings around the urbanised area that is Birmingham, nor need to be able to even see their maps to remain within airspace zones, nor be able to read their instruments (have you seen what happens when a laser hits a cockpit?, the whole cockpit intensely lights up, never mind a direct hit to the eye). Don't confuse IMC flight with not being able to see anything either.

@Caolan567 any pilot can hover just fine while blind. They dont even technically need windows. Think
