I played this song at the FredTap II concert in Fredericksburg, Virginia on November 14th, 2009. This was the first time I'd performed the piece in about 20 years, so it was nice to go back and re-interpret it a bit.
Thematically, it's a musical account of the Persephone myth.
For those of you who have my "Greg Howard Songbook" (http://www.greghoward.com/news) this is one of the simpler tunes in the book, spiced up a bit for this performance. I haven't notated the introduction, because the rest of the tune is pretty easy and I didn't want to put anyone off from learning it.
The instrument is bamboo Grand Stick. for more info about the Stick and Emmett Chapman's Free Hands two-handed tapping method see: http://www.stick.com
Thanks to Alan Benjamin for recording the audio, and to Rob Martino for the gig....
Happy Tapping,
Greg
Greg knows I have the book, and am working on the song. It is indeed lovely, and I deeply appreciate that the video is posted.
