  • Hey mate,

on takeoff, smoothly apply full throttle and apply gentle back pressure to hold the nose just off the ground. Don't apply power then back off like you did. You are self taught right? Make sure you study up on emergency procedures eg. engine failure. When you are that low you will have at best a few crucial seconds to lower the nose and maintain airspeed. Just remember airspeed is everything. BTW I am a qualified pilot in Australia. Cheers mate. Happy Flying.

Hello Thanks for watching my Quicksilver ultralight video. I filmed this the first year I started to fly. I taught myself how to fly. This was a very early video. You should look at my latest videos. I take off in a very short distance and also land shorter. I fly all the time now. I land at local airports and on my own land. Its great to fly.

  • how far can these go on a full tank?

  • The Quicksilver Ultralight has a 5 gallon gas tank. I burn 2.5 gallons per hour. I fly around 35mph. Just taking it easy, no need to keep it wide open. I leave gas at another guys landing strip that has an ultralight about 15 miles from my airstrip. So I can take off with a full tank of gas, fly to his airstrip and refuel, then fly around that area. That way I get to go further away from the point where I took off. Do you live in Pa. Maybe I will sell my Quicksilver Sprint ultralight.

  • im looking more into ultralights. i was thinking more of getting a 2 seater to share the experience butt i think a singe would feel more natural if you get my drift. as far as classes go, how long did it end up taking you?on takeoff and landings do u need to do it from a certain place or just any place u have permission and enough room?

  • Flying a QuickSilver Ultralight is great. A two person ultralight can only be legally flown if it has an N-number just like a real airplane and an airworthy certificate, the pilot must be a licensed pilot. Now on the other hand a Single place ultralight can be flown by anyone, you do not need a pilot license and the aircraft does not have to be n-numbered. So a single place ultralight that meets the part FAR103 rules is the way to go. I did not take lessons. Don't do what I did. Get Lessons.

  • @ultralightpilot99 If you take the second seat out of a two seat ultralight, can you fly it without a license?

  • @speed8302 The ultralight is a FAR Part 103 aircraft, meaning neither you nor the plane need licensing, provided it meets the criteria (under 254 lbs empty, single seat, less than 5 gallons fuel, under 60 knots top speed, etc.). Classes are not required but are recommended, get some theory in ya, it'll help a lot. And read up on the FAR Part 103 rules well. Good luck!

  • @ultralightpilot99 i know you posted this a long time ago but are you in the U.S.A. i live in oklahoma and want to do this and was wondering what i need to do if i get the single seater do i have to have a licence i will be taking classes at a local airstrip but i am just wondering about the licence

  • @ultralightpilot99 No north Carolina. I'd probably buy one in a few years. As soon as I graduate from college which could take up to 3 years.
