I battle the dragon until he has just a small amount of life left and EVERY TIME he just picks me up in his jaws and kills me. Very frustrating !!

This helped alot thx but nord battle axe of cold works better because of its ability to stagger the dragon with the cold effect either use nord battle axe of cold n health magika or nord battle axe n whiterun battle axe

You could also just kill him as he's getting out of the ground and starts with very little life that fills up as his is reconstructed by Alduin's shout. As soon as he pops out of the ground he's vulnerable with low life.

You know, you can just press q and give numbers to the favorites so you don't have to pop open the favorites menu everytime you want something.

I just hid behind a rock while the dragon did its thing. Shot it with arrows... took about seven minutes but I got the job done.
