@green5750 It's called a hook and ladder because it was "invented" by a fire station's football team

I'm with you, Stu. It's the Brent Mussbergers of the world who keep this silliness going with their intellectual laziness, and the beer-bellied superfans that populate the sports bars who simply parrot it without thinking.
Kind of like when people speak of "forward laterals" to explain why something wasn't a fumble. lol
-
@green5750 I know it involves a lateral, I know there is no ladder involved. I also think it should be called Hook & Lateral....but I didn't name the play.

The play is called the Hook and Lateral. The receiver runs a "Hook" pattern, then "Laterals" to the other player coming around. There is no ladder involved.
It's a play on words ("Hook and ladder") that is typically lost on idiot sports broadcasters.

Sorry ou should have one

Yeah, watch that OU punter break his leg on every punt to draw a flag and then talk about trick play "bullshit". I don't recall Texas or Florida running any trick plays last year.
Wrong, its commonly called the Hook & Lateral, but it's Hook and Ladder.

Oh, God. The world is ending because he used a very common nickname for the play, instead of the name you like.
Your panties are in a serious knot, dude.
