http://www.guitarspeedsecret.com - If this sounds familiar, that's because the main melody is indeed the GuitArticles theme song. I've been getting requests to finish the song completely, and I had some time on my hands so I did so. Basically, I keep getting asked where I got the intro music from, and I thought that this would be a shorter answer.

I've also had a lot of requests to teach the main melody, and I might do so in the future, but a lot of the concepts that I've explained in my guitar instructional videos cover enough. I was a little under the weather when I recorded, shot, and edited this - so if there are any oddities about it, I offer my deepest apologies.

http://www.guitarticles.net also has some lessons that cover a good deal of the techniques and approaches used in this song including, pinch harmonics, sliding, arpeggios, alternate picking, sweep picking, economy picking, bending, etc.

  • tabs please lol omg this song is so fucking great i love it

  • @cowboysfromhell159 - Thank you - I will try to get around to it.

  • i notice your thumb behind fret board, i tend to keep mine around, is that an issue? or is it personal preference?

  • In my opinion its a must. I would tell anyone to keep their thumb at about the halfway point of the back of the neck, but, I work it around, like a dance. Here's why.

Especially for the low strings, you're really stretching if you've got your thumb wrapped around the top, and that's hard on the metacarpals and wrist. For higher strings you don't need so much hand in there. Its a mobility thing, helps to glide around the neck, but every one is different.

  • Did you use a pitch effect? Or did you overlap two guitar recordings on the lead riffs?

  • I overlapped them. I do it with a lot of stuff. But I took each layer and assigned it to a certain speaker so that it would stand out a little better. I did a lesson about it if you are interested.
