Rockford, Illinois World War Two Days SS Village Battle Part One.

I exchanged rifle fire with the British Special Air Service for a few minutes. Then the SAS threw a grenade at me (I didn't have any grenades because Alex, one of our SS re-enactors, left and took the Stielhandgranate that I was previously borrowing with him.) So after a few minutes of exchanging fire, one of the SAS guys threw a grenade towards me.

When I saw the grenade coming at me in midair, I turned and ran at a right angle away from the grenade along the building, shouting "Granate!" Alas, when I turned around I realized that our right flank had collapsed and the British had three guys aiming Stens at me the second I ran away from the grenade. So, I took my hit and decided to film for the rest of the village battle.

Years ago we had an eastern front battle, we ran out of blanks, when the germans advanced, my buddy john stuck a potatoe on the end of his pistol and said" one more step and the potatoe gets it" well, it vaporized so we made a joke of shooting a defeatest potatoe. Guess you had to be there, but that is what we "officers" were talking about when you were filming. We kinda got caught in the middle when the battle took place.

Ahhhhh. Now I get the reference. To be completely honest, I couldn't hear anything that you were saying to each other at the time because I was concentrating on filming and it was hard to hear over the gunshots and shouting. Was that a random reference or did someone run out of blanks? I was rather puzzled to see field grade officers in dress uniforms standing nonchalantly in the middle of that assault. Did you see me run to take cover once the Tommy threw the grenade?
