Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) said the individual mandate is constitutional under the "good and welfare" clause of the Constitution.

If that's the case then what can't they make us buy? If you can stretch and twist the words of the Constitution to mean anything then where does it end? It ends with tyranny and ultimately revolution.

Hey, he's Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, you know! There HAS to be a Good and Welfare Clause in the Constitution. Maybe in chapter 6........

@FreeinTX Article 1 Section 8 IS referred to as the General Welfare Clause. i'm not sure why you're arguing that. it doesn't change the meaning and that's not really up for debate. i think other than that we agree in principle. Conyers' interpretation of the constitution is out of line with the original intent. he is flat out wrong.
