Do you know what Marxism is? Seriously? You realize internationally Obama is a moderate conservative, right? You think Democrats are the left -- they're center-left. Obama is, as President, to the right of the Democratic platform.

@enaikra I think it's insane that Obama would like the upheaval of an alliance with Israel in an attempt at Middle Eastern peace. While it's an ambitious goal, the undefined outlines of the plan leave our (U.S.) long-time ally and truest friend of the Middle East (Israel) with the short stick. While there are innumerable political ramifications by his actions, it boils down to who's friends with who in the Middle East. US=Isreal. Period.

the speech of Obama in Egypt was so slick and comforting to the middle east it just make them feel secure that America can bring justice but I guess the pure Israeli who carries the flag of America afraid that Obama may be looking for justice

I had also heard somewhere that even prior to Obama the US had many social programs and had many allies that are considered democratic socialist with mixed economies. (E.g., France, Britain, Germany, Japan) Lay off the Glenn Beck my friend socialism is a part of your everyday life, and it is nothing like communism.

Really because I was under the impression that Socialism meant the communal ownership of production and distrubution and Communism meant the communal ownership of all property. Also I had heard somewhere that the Oneida Community was a socialist community started in the US that still trades on the stock market today. I also saw somewhere that a bunch of workers who were laid off started a company they all share ownership of making them socialists.

you may have read the cliff notes but you didn't understand it. The difference is words that have the same fundamental meaning, that is all. To put it in terms you will more easily understand public option vs. consumer option; they mean the same thing but the words sound different. That is the only difference between marxist and a socialist system. They even more in common in thier large scale failures. without hong kong china would have transformed shortly after the ussr.

The communist manifesto back to back its a fucking huge peice of literature. No real difference? The difference between Marxist/Lennonist Communist and Utopian socialist is like the difference between Democracy and Monarchy. Its a fucking huge spectrum of philosophy and government.

Yeap I know the difference between Marx and Socialist, do you? Please clarify because it was my understanding was that Marx believed in the concept of Proletariat rule through a violent revolution and the dissolving of property ownership. Now see I might have this wrong but I believed socialism was the communal ownership of production and distribution much like many union owned companies today such as the Oneida Community. Anita Dunn, Bob Bauer, Mark Lloyd, Van Jones, Cass Sunstien, Robert McChesney (he is just meeting with the president weekly), Buffy Wicks, Valerie Jarret, and John Holdren. it is OBAMA who said to look at the people who he surrounds himself with after all. good example of greed Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Barny Frank and charlie Rangle.
