@Crazycar213 Agree too, Labrie has lovely calm passages on several tunes on DT but on the other hand, Awake loud voice is amazing... nobody can steal that from him :)
-
@aleboogie Oh I totally agree. He has one of the best rock/metal voices ever with such versatility and range. Everyone is always knockin labrie, which im pretty sure you weren't doing, but I always like to remind them of his past issues. RA is one of my favorite vocalists so I am with you on that one. I love em both though.

@Crazycar213 I was not aware about that :( , but in my humble opinion Russell has better control of the vibrato, but it's just me ;)
-
@aleboogie It's because he never ruptured his vocal chords twice....
-
Dont get me wrong i love SX, but when i saw them live on the Paradise Lost tour they were so goddamn loud it wasnt even enjoyable. They should fire that soundman

Paradise was lost when SYMPHONY X began turning their backs on their masterpiece V. did they forget it occupies an entire album side of their last live cd. i wish i were wrong but last show i saw- not a single song from V - and i was sreaming "Evolution!" the whole time. And recently, much to my horror, i just witnessed M.R. proclaim that "we're just a metal band' even their lyrical style changed- god forbid someone accuses them of preaching.

hmph! funny......I feel something in the left side of my chest when this song plays

Labrie can getting annoying on high notes--BUT he has a very unique beauty to his lower voice.
Allen is by far the best vocalist out there. The other guys mentioned cant touch his TONE. Many people dont understand tone--they dont understand vocal beauty they only understand range. Range means nothing. I can go as high or as low on my 20 dollar guitar and still sound like crap.
Allen has a combination that is untouchable. He can sound tough, gritty, and like an angel. He is Lou Gramm and Dio

What makes a voice appealing or not is completely subjective. Labrie's I&W/Awake tone was unbelievable.
