"Tragically, no one knows where Barack Obama’s map of the Middle East is. At best, it is in the heartland states of America, where the fate of his presidency will be decided next year, just as Jimmy Carter’s was back in 1980.
At worst, he has no map at all." -Niall Ferguson, Newsweek

@furseiseki I agree about the "hope" gimmick. Maddow was talking about how this isn't an American political issue we just care about freedom and blah blah blah, all the while acting like we should pat ourselves on the back, like we had anything to do with anything. Maybe would've been a good lead to ask ourselves "what other dictators has America been propping up all these years that could use a little support?" Just a feel good special for all those who want to pretend they care.

@ridewave444 Believe me when I say I hate Cheney and all the NeoCon Republicans as much as you and anyone else, but the Democrats aren't any different from Republicans in their foreign policy, except maybe they're slicker and less direct. President Obama supported Mubarak too, and tried to stay neutral during the early stages of the revolution. I'm sure his story has changed since then. And not all of the right is wrong, Ron Paul was sympathetic before you knew who Mubarak was.

Maddow makes a good point here a minute in, but seriously most people didn't even know who Mubarak was until this revolution came up nor how much of a dictator he's been. A point I would think all the networks would shy from, since it's partly her fault (along with the rest of MSNBC, CNN, and esp FOX) that the American people at large know so little about our foreign policy. The rest of the blame comes to all of us pseudo elitists who think we know anything about politics.

Why is it that the "right" is almost always WRONG on everything? Lol They can't even really be on the right side in THIS case! Pathetic. Similar to what Nicholsen said in "Easy Rider' I believe, conservatives talk a lot of shit about "freedom" and all that. But they only go along with "freedom" if it conforms to what THEY agree with or heavily benefits the U.S. Who would listen to that idiot, chickenhawk, coward, Cheney anyway?

Leave it to an Obamapologist like Chris Matthews to bring up Obama's sad "Hope" gimmick in comparison to the REAL change going on in Egypt. Obama is Sueliman, we need to finish OUR revolution and take the steps forward Obama's afraid to take. No more puppet actors, it's time to take the idea of democracy seriously and rise up.
Thanks FNC.
