I think Angeal wants release from being a monster (what he sees himself as), but he has too much pride to kill himself b/c suicide is considered cowardly.
He wants Zack to do it for him and die a good SOLDIER's death (in battle at the hands of an enemy or a friend). What better way to go than at the hands of a friend?

Poor Angeal... he wants to be a human even though he is but with those wings he became a monster... well i'll say humans who have wings may be angels, not monsters... a monster is an evil figure Angeal is not one of them, he's just a human who has wings a human who had a transformation, that is a metamorphosis... Zack has sense of friendship he doesn't want to fight with Angeal that's real friendship i think thanks for this scene! I love it! X333

Angeal and Sephiroth should think more to that monster thing. Having a body of a monster isn't far as terrible as having a mind of one. So they actually aren't monsters. It's still a great story, as Zack tries to help Angeal.

The wings are a result of having a high concentration of Jenova Cells. After reading some more Loveless I kind of get where the Black and White wings come from. I'll explain more later.
