  • Both Neil Young and Kurt Cobain where the fathers of grunge.

But Kurt himself said it was punk since he did every song different for every

gig , just like Neil. The last words "it´s better to burn out than to fade away" is like

giving the guitar to Neil Young and at the same time placing himself on the same

shelf as Rotten (punk). Hey Hey My My has the typical Kurt Cobain style of many songs.

  • Kurt's guitar solos are like Miles Davis' trumpet on Kind of Blue. Too many cockrockers look at Kurt and see nothing, but there's a shitload of modal melodies going on inside his mind. Rest in peace, Cobain.

  • Punk Rock Is Freedom - Kurt Cobain

  • I am pretty sure the guitar player of Mudhoney came up with the word "grunge".

What is really grunge anyway.. To me it is punk music with that grungy sound.

  • @1algerial1

Not saying your wrong on that. Have seen so many discussions on that. So you don´t really have the answer on who were the fathers on grunge. Mud Honey was out there before Nirvana , sure. they were a big influence for Nirvana. suddenly someone else comes in on this discussion with other bands than you mention - been there.

If grunge is what grunge is today without Nirvana I don´t know. Maybe grunge would have had a shorter life , who knows.

  • @1algerial1 No..... bands like Mudhoney and Screaming Trees were the fathers of grunge.

  • Kurt Cobain is just like Kurt Cobain. End of story.

  • I LOVEE LOVE NIRVANA!

  • @Lamefunday There's a few different versions. The most expensive is £75. You get the original mixes of nevemind though before it was polished. I dont think you get this with the others. It's in a thick LP sized book that slides into a box. Also includes Live at the paramount DVD and cd, Boombox rehearsal recordings, Smart studios sessions, all the b-sides and original album too. 4cds 1 DVD. Still expensive though. check amazon for the prices of the cheaper versions.
