  • Nice system. At 0.36 is the small silver box the PSU for the thoresn turntable and if so how long is the cable that connects it to the turntable?

Also what's the box on the top most level of the hi fi rack under the turntable shelf?

And does the mcintosh pre-amp come with it's own phono stage?

  • Hi. The small silver box is actually a Squeezebox (streaming music device).

The top most level box is a McIntosh MR80 tuner.

And, yes, the C220 pre-amp does come with a fine sounding tube (2x12ax7) phono stage.

  • Please tell me someone didn't make you put those speakers so close together. Also Why did you decide on MAC equipment, It is OK, but there is so much out there that is better Mac just has a big name and has good marketing, plus they give you the warm nostalgic fuzzies when you remember you father's or Uncle's Mac system.

  • Since you said please :-). Regarding the speakers: My dedicated listening room is small, that's why I went with the best small speakers that sound great in a near field listening environment (and they have been positioned very carefully). Regarding McIntosh, I had the same preconceptions you did -- until I listened. The new McIntosh is not "your father's McIntosh" - I suggest you read up the amazing reviews that the new Mc amps are getting or, better yet, listen to them.

  • Other amps can only equal Macs, they can't surpass them!

  • I don't agree with that as a general statement. Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preferences. I like the McIntosh sound, but others (who prefer a more analytical presentation) may find it too "warm" and too "smooth" and prefer some other brand.

  • I miei piu' sinceri complimenti per il tuo fantastico impianto!!! Prova delle JBL vintage con i tuoi Mc Intosh suoneranno ancora piu' divinamente.

    Bravo!

    Fabrizio. da Roma.

  • McIntosh amps are VERY musical! And stunningly GORGEOUS to behold!

  • That McIntosh is GORGEOUS! It reeks precision and top notch engineering.

  • Very nice.

  • Hello, great high-end system! Do you have ventilation system in the closet? Air circulation is needed, I think.

  • Is that a pair of sonus faber?

  • Good system synergy but needs better listening room.

  • Wow fantastic system...

  • I'm a huge fan of McIntosh. Seem their gear at a hifi exhibition, blew me away. Out of my price range though unfortunately.

  • Where's the MDA1000?
