  • another way to get the fire going is use a blower remember the days of the bellows blowers to start the fire, i was thinking of a 12V air mattress inflator for starters and then maybe a leaf blower for advanced firestarters but watch out for the sparks

  • Actually, I just saw a guy do that for the first time last week. We had a huge pile of leaves, and after we lit it, he just stuck the leaf blower into the pile and let 'er go. "Bellows" is a good word to use to describe the effect.

...and you're right. The sparks were everywhere, so watch out if you try this at home.

  • yeah I used a 12V air mattress pump that i got for $2.99 at christmas tree shops no lie and i have a hose hooked to it and i have a metal pipe on the other end and i stick that in the holes and it works great but i wish i could throttle the speed of the pump but i cant b/c i run the pump off a car jumpstarter that i got for 20 bux at the christmas tree shops its dead now i need a new one

  • air mattress pump... metal pipe... car jumpstarter...

Sounds like my kind of party.

  • Personally, I've had to resist the temptation to do this because I've heard it can really feed the fire... which is awesome, but not-so-awesome within city limits.

    Thanks for the tip!

  • disel fuel work good

  • I put a bunch of old pillows in my barrel today. It has 2 vent slots on the sides an inch off the bottom. Whatever pillows are made of, burns hot. Almost 3/4 of the barrel was glowing red and the bottom was bright orange.

  • Put some holes in the barrel so the fire can breath. A few slugs from a shotgun should do the trick. Or you can use a pick-axe if you have one.

  • well I live out in the country so fires are OK here. I keep a charged water hose handy.

  • I like it, in fact I'm in a process of making some improvements (forcing cyclone air in), so that at the end the barrel should burn smoke and smell free (even tires). Now that would be the dream annihilating machine.

  • instead of just putting one hole in the bottom for water put a about 1 hole in the bottom for water and 6 larger holes about 6 inches from the bottom for air and it will burn better and hotter.

  • yeah lol, thats what I use b/c i can just put the hose in the fire b/c its one of those plastic tubing hoses so I put an old pipe from my old shower head you know the bent part and i stick that in the holes of the barrel and turn on the pump, hey it works i did that with a charcoal smoker at a picnic and it got orange almost white hot and made the temp gauge rise to near the top
