In 1994 Nike opened its European clothing distribution center in the Flemish municipality of Laakdal. Subsequently, the distribution of shoes and all sports equipment of the Nike brand also moved to this strategic location in the heart of Europe. The Nike European Logistics Center (ELC) today covers an area of about 260,000 m2. That makes it Europe's biggest distribution center and the largest in the world for the American sportswear distributor.
"Flanders is situated in the very heart of the European buying power and, in addition, we have excellent links to our customers in the entire EMEA region from there. This is the best location in Europe." says Luc Hooybergs, General Manager of Nike ELC Laakdal.
