The first in a trillogy of videos filmed at the Isle of Man Steam Railway, during the Manx Transport Festival in July 2011
Part One - Shunting and a lunchtime layover at Douglas
On a blazing hot Wednesday 27th July 2011, I paid a lunchtime visit to the Isle of Man Steam Railway's headquarters at Douglas to see what was going on. I arrived in time to see Beyer Peacock 2-4-0T number 4 Loch doing a spot of shunting in the yard. She shunts Van G12, German-built Schoema diesel 17 Viking, and also shunts a pair of carriages along with the frames of fellow Beyer Peacock tank number 1 Sutherland.
Hunslet built diesel 18 Ailsa also gets in on the act, shunting a pair of freshly overhauled bogies into the workshop, before dissapearing up the line.
Arriving from Port Erin, another Beyer Peacock tank, number 12 Hutchinson takes it's lunchbreak at Douglas, prior to departure with the 11:50 service.
Part Two:
@robmasterman Cheers Bob. A wonderful little railway with a character all of it's own.
