There is a small rock outcropping on a favorite trail in the woods near my studio. I often find myself deep in thought, walking in slow circles around the edge of this stone mound. For me it is a walking meditation, where each cycle finds me back in the same physical place but in a slightly different emotional place. One day I found a loose rock with a flat face and the idea for 'Thinking Chair', a self-portrait of this experience, came into being.

The piece it self is just woderfull! But also the way you have filmed it, starting with a close up, mediating the the slow, carefull walk so well, then the machinery, the sound, ending with the whole structure light upp in that way! Poetic and matter-of-fact at the same time.

I saw this on display yesterday and just filled me with joy. The movement of the chair drew me in and the machinery is just amazing. It makes me smile even thinking about the chair walking around thinking.

My daughter and I just came from the MIT museum. She's 5, and loved the chair sculptures. She wrote you a note, and drew a chair. Thanks for posting these online!
