This opens with the band performing Mist Covered Mountains while the dancers perfrom. The music and dance progress to finish with a set of lively jigs. The dance incorporates New Zealand Highland Dance steps and the Jig.

  • Wow!

  • If conventional musicians are to join pipes on this remarkable old tune, they should listen and adapt to the sense of it with the bagpipe drone, and not leap to the conclusion of it being a simplistic "minor key" mode of the melody as it appears on printed paper that doesn't include the drone.

On pipes this dark minor-key melody is major-key and soars into the clouds. It's an entirely different animal to the pure-melody sung or folk band version.

  • LUCKY DANCERS!! Our dance class we HAVE to wear our hair in a highland dance bun! no ponytails, a bun. Not fair!
