  • Is insulating the core just a precaution against the wires shifting out or is there more to It

  • @DiamondTattooInk It's simply reinforcement, and protection from falling objects :-)

  • So you have a seperate length of wire for each layer and the card separates them? So a three layer coil, you would have to solder the two lots of three lengths together when finished?

  • Yes and Yes. You can either series or parallel the layers depending on your capacitor bank.

  • @FastMHz

    Thankyou.

So what is the advantage of doing it that way compared to just winding the three base turns and building it up back and forth? Seems easier but assuming your doing it the way you are for a reason.

What differences are there in parallel and series layers?

  • Just plain easier (feasible) to do it this way :-)

Parallel coils are better for banks with more capacitance vs voltage. Series coils are better for banks of higher voltage.

  • I make tattoo machines and some people insulate the core some don't ... It's dc so eddy currents aren't an issue and the wire is polyimide insulated so any ideas on why they do this? Something I do have a prob with is hysteresis cause I can't find the right core material

  • Hi! Good tut ;-) I'm a noob, so thanks :-))

14 gage... I hear people talk about "gage" a lot, which doesn't mean anything to me since I'm in europe. What does gage stand for? What size does it indicate, do you know how many mm is 1 gage? is 1 gage maybe 0.1mm or maybe 1mm?

  • Can this be used for orgonite?

  • Where were you when I was trying to figure out how to wind a flat coil? Thanks for the training video. Check out my 1KV washer launcher video.
