2 more very nice tunes learnt from the playing of the most excellent Askew Sisters and transposed into playing in CF and played on my Bernard Loffet CF melodeon (accordeon)
They are THE DUSTY MILLER and the PRESBYTERIAN HORNPIPE
The second tune is also played Eliza Carthy and Martin Green "Dinner" CD ..they credit it from John Offords John of the Greeny Cheshire Way!... and i Just realised im playing it a bit wrong too! :-)

brilliant playing -love the change to the second hornpipe. I really like Julian Sutton's stuff, I know you have posted one of his - I am currently struggling with "Taking the Tent Down" which I love but finding hard to make the basses work -if you fancied posting your own take on that one it would be a very useful source of inspiration indeed! Anyway keep it up sir.

    Cheers from Sydenham

    NIgel.

  • @PrimaryInt yep just revisited that one ... awkward to make it flow! ... limited basses ... i'm learning it with Waiting for Janet (cutting) as played by the brilliant young band - Last Orders who put Horizonto on the end too!

I'm using a AD box for it!

  • WOW THIS IS AN AWESOME SOUND YOU HAVE> It reminds me of another friend who has played this very song on the Box. so this was EXCELLENT. I had to subscribe I hope you don't mind. Amazing really amazing. Thank you for making my heart happy.

    Ron!

  • @Rhawneld57 Thanks for your kind comments Ron... good luck with the ADG

  • Great playing, Derek! These 3/2's have something addictive about them, don't they?

  • @freemusicsession .... Yep .... I seem to have a natural affinity towards them!... and Playford Rocks too!! :-)

  • General response to the channel: beautiful playing on these, Derek: mostly a bouzouki/banjo player myself, but learning box, and these videos are wonderful resources. Thank you!

  • Great stuff! Have you re-recorded over it? There are a few points where your fingers are moving around the basses but there's little change in noise. Either way, well played

  • Oooh, love the bass lines ...

  • Love the 3/2 hornpipes. Chris Parkinson (of the House Band) does a great job with the Dusty Miller. Love your playing, and love those Loffet boxes you have.

  • Fantastic playing. You sound like a band!

Is the first tune about the martyr Dusty Miller from Newcastle who was a British P.O.W. in Thailand during Second World War?

  • lovely,thankyou.
