What would TWC's news coverage look like without weather video? Mike
Bettes speaks out about chasers who shoot their video... I removed
their video so you could see what a world without chaser video looks
like. As you can see only a whopping 24 seconds of this 95 second clip is TWC generated content.
That is a douche bag thing to say, but it is true to some extent.

I WOULDN'T CALL IT BULLS@#% IT. WASN'T JUST LAST APRIL THAT
THEY THANKED ALL THE SPOTTERS, AND I THINK THIS VERY CHASER
WAS ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL LAST SPRING AND YES THEY WAN'T THAT UP CLOSE FOOTAGE. MAYBE THEY SHOULDN'T BUY UPCLOSE FOOTAGE.
BUT TO SAY IT SIMPLE SOME PEOPLE RIDE BULLS, SOME SKYDIVE, SURF, OR RIDE OUT A HURRICANE ON THE OCEAN SO THEY CAN REPORT ON THE NEWS.
TO EACH THERE OWN, IF A PERSON WANTS TO GET UP CLOSE IT'S THERE OWN RISK, THE ENJOY IT AND GET PAID FOR IT.

AG probably thinks it was a mechanical issue, but in reality what he felt was an unnatural aspect of driving in reverse at anything but a snails pace. I have not owned an Xterra (the vehicle that flipped) but have owned a number of SUVs. I think other SUV owners will talk about how at times, they do act funny with little turns and such when in reverese. Try it some time....go in reverse in an SUV at a decent speed and see how much control you have. Just do it in an open lot (so you don't flip).

Great job, couldn't agree more with this.

@bnvn1 Now that you mention it, it does look like he was trying to pull a Rockford turn. If that's the case, he should've known better. But we all fuck up once in a while, and he wasn't hurt. At least nothing more than his pride.

Well done!

Andy is on record that his brakes locked as he tried to reverse by a ditch and that is what flipped his vehicle NOT a tornado

@BitterCanuck Mechanical Issues? HA, I call BULL SHIT on "Mechanical Issues". Several of us reviewed the video shot by TVN and if you do the math, Andy's SUV was moving at 45 feet per second, the speed in reverse is 30.681818181818183 miles per hour. I don't know ANYONE that needs to go that fast in reverse when the tornado was already past them. The video shows he tried to do a J Turn or "Rockford" and screwed up.

Funny how the MSM neglects to mention, that the chaser who rolled his vehicle did so because of mechanical issues, and not because he got too close.
